Money Saving Ideas

Always print from digital files
Don't waste money on sepias, vellums or mylars. It is not necessary to have expensive "translucent intermediates" (also called "second originals") in order to run multiple sets of prints. You not only waste money, you sacrifice readability, since every print made from an intermediate is of second-generation quality (or worse!).

By comparison, every bond print made from a digital file (such as a .PLT or a .TIFF) is really an original plot, 400 x 400 DPI from the first print to the last. You do not need to plot originals on your in-house plotter, which is a waste both of your time and of expensive plotter media. Instead, bring LDI digital files (on a disk, for example) or send us digital files through our web page (or by E-mail.) We print directly from your digital files; no "second original" charge is added to your bill and we don't charge a premium for that "first plot out."

If you do not have digital files (for example, if you draw on drafting vellum,) LDI can still save you money. We simply scan your drawing into a digital file format that can be used for printing, archival storage, or distribution via LDI's Digital Courier Service. There is no extra charge for scanning if we run prints from your digital files, so you can "be digital" even if you still like 2H lead or technical pens.

Use LDI's FREE Digital Courier Service
Don't spend your time stuck in traffic. Stop wasting money paying a local courier or Airborne. Get it there today instead of tomorrow. And don't pay an extra penny for courier service! With locations everywhere, LDI is probably close to where you need hard-copy prints delivered. We can send digital files across town or across the country from one LDI location to another, or you can send your files to any LDI location through our web page (or by E-mail.) Either way, you save lots of money and have more time in the office and less time out in the traffic jams. Best of all, the cost of digital courier service is included in the printing price - there are no extra or hidden charges to drive your costs up.

Store all of your drawings in your desk drawer
Stop buying flat files and trying to squeeze them into your office. LDI can "print" your digital files onto Compact Disks quickly and inexpensively. A CD holds hundreds of drawings, lasts forever and can be safely stored in your desk or cabinet. And scanning-to-CD costs no more than running a bond print, so it is very affordable. Another thing·be sure to have an extra set of CD's made to store off-premises (in a bank vault, for example, or at home) so backup data is always safe and readily available.

Use LDI's quantity discounts to save on printing
With LDI's pricing, the more prints you buy at one time, the lower your price-per-print. This means you can write your own price based on how many prints you buy. You can combine multiple jobs, add up the total of all prints, and then get the quantity pricing for all of the prints, even if they include different sizes or different jobs. You can also combine half-size and full-size prints to get lower quantity pricing. It makes sense·the more you buy, the less you pay.

Pay cash for small orders to save on minimums
If you have a very small order, just a couple of prints, you can save up to one-half (1/2) on your minimum order charge. Pay for the order on-the-spot at the $5.00 minimum level instead of charging it to your account, which requires a $10.00 minimum. All LDI locations take most major credit cards and we consider a credit card sale same-as-cash, which means a $5.00 minimum. You save $5.00 (one-half of your minimum charge) and have the convenience of a credit card purchase.

Let LDI advertise, print and distribute your construction bid documents
Putting a set of your bid or construction prints "on file" with LDI can save you money and take the hassle out of announcing bids, distributing prints, etc. First of all, jobs can be "advertised" at no cost to you on our daily LDI-Line, which reaches hundreds of General and Sub-contractors throughout the Southeast each week. Subs can see exact breakdowns of plans and can order only what they need to bid the job. Purchase of full sets is not required. That alone can save a lot of unnecessary expense. Also, General Contractors and Architects buy only what they need for their own use; unused sets of plans are a thing of the past. And LDI does a lot of the work of promoting new job bids to subs and materials suppliers and, of course, we do ALL of the work of actually distributing the prints to bidders. With LDI as part of the "bid team," things go more smoothly and you have much less expense associated with bid activities.

Cut your printing bill in half by using half-size prints
If you haven't looked at a half-size print lately, it's time to look again. By converting even part of your printing job to half-size, LDI can save you money on your total printing bill. Our digital half-size prints are priced at about half the cost of the same image printed full-size (compare, for example, an "E" size print with its half-size, which is a "C" size on our price grid. Or a "D" size with a "B" size.) And if you have tried half-size and have found them harder to read, consider this: with digital originals printing onto bond paper, half-size prints are extremely clear and readable. They are also smaller and easier to handle and store. The next time you visit LDI, ask us to run you a half-size bond print no-cost sample for your evaluation.

Reduce your labor and materials costs; let LDI be your shipping department
We will do the wrapping and packaging, the labeling, and we will even take the parcels to Fed Ex or UPS, all at no extra charge to you! Shipping service, even after 5:00 PM, is included in the price of the printing. You pay only the actual freight charges (if any) and we can either charge those to your freight account or ours, whichever is more convenient for you. Even better, local delivery by LDI courier is FREE ($15.00 minimum order required.) Don't spend extra time and money shipping prints; let LDI do it.
